A bit about me …
After graduating from Aberystwyth University, I got my first job working in retail management for Dillon’s Bookstore. But it didn’t take me long to realise it was the promotional events, media relations and community engagement parts of my job that I enjoyed best – along with reading the merchandise, of course! So, when an opportunity to work as a junior account executive at a local PR agency was offered, I grabbed it with both hands and so began my career in Pharmaceutical PR
Over the years, I worked my way up to client services director with Huntsworth Health, a role I held for two years. As well as learning the value of strategic communication, project and relationship management, writing, research, and consumer insight and behaviour analysis skills were invaluable. I had the benefit of learning from some great mentors and working with clients, including Pfizer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Sanofi and many others.
For me, consistent personal development and learning are the bedrock of everything I do. My goal is to make every new day better than the last. So, as well as getting married and having two children, I also worked in the evenings and at weekends to gain professional qualifications, including a Certificate in Advertising, Marketing and PR, and a Diploma in Public Relations. I’ve continued with my learning right through to the present and, in 2020, I gained a Diploma in Change Management and Internal Communication. Today, as an accredited member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, I continue to undertake annual cycles of continuous professional development (CPD).
